Whit Ayres’s comments on the Republican primary battle:

“Mitt Romney is still the odds-on favorite to win the nomination, but he’s clearly not the first choice of conservative Republicans,” said Whit Ayres, a Virginia-based GOP pollster who was affiliated with former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman’s now-defunct presidential campaign. “That doesn’t mean he’s an unacceptable choice. People sometimes misinterpret that: Just because he’s not your first choice doesn’t mean you wouldn’t support him, ultimately, if he gets the nomination. But a lot of conservative Republicans aren’t in love with him, and they’re going to exhaust every other reasonable possibility before settling on him.”
