“It’s possible” the attacks are beginning to undermine Mr. Romney’s message in Southern states, said Whit Ayres, a Republican pollster who is working for a Super PAC that supports another presidential hopeful, Jon Huntsman, whose message also is focused on the economy. “We’re still taking about a strongly pro-capitalist, pro-private-sector electorate in the Republican primary in South Carolina,” Mr. Ayres said.
